Marianne is a seismologist and geophysicist researching the structure and tectonics of the Earth’s lithosphere using active- and passive-source seismic methods. As an Associate Professor of Earth, Environmental, and Resource Sciences at University of Texas at El Paso, she leads and teaches many classes that impact her students and inspire them to move toward careers in earth sciences. Her field research takes her to far off extremes–the baking hot south-western deserts of the US, the ice fields of Alaska to the glaciers of the Antarctic, where she and her team bury seismological equipment to record motion and icequakes!
